What is the difference between the books and the tv series. I haven't read any of the books, but I will, ONE day, when I have time. But what are some MAJOR differences?

I am like totally going to answer my question, a bit a least, I was looking around the internet, and found this information:

Character names
- Stefan and Damon were originally given the surname 'Whitmore' in the pilot of the TV series. The name was switched to the original 'Salvatore' of the books once the series was greenlighted.
- Bonnie McCullough has become Bonnie Bennett
- Vickie Bennett has become Vicki Donovan.
- Matt Honeycutt has become Matt Donovan.
- Tyler Smallwood is now Tyler Lockwood.
- Caroline was briefly Caroline Truitt but the character's original surname of 'Forbes' was restored before the show's airing.

Mystic Falls
The town the story is set in became Mystic Falls in the TV series as they were unable to get legal clearance for Fell's Church.[2] There is, however, speculation that the show's creators may have changed the name of the town to set it fully apart from its book counterpart as author L.J. Smith is still writing books in The Vampire Diaries series.

But if anyone else has any other differences, that would be really interesting biggrin.gif
